Composition, music theory and philosophy, jazz guitar.
I am a composer, theorist and guitarist, living in New York City. For the past decade I have been pursuing a wide variety of musical interests: composition, contemporary music, jazz guitar, philosophy and critical theory, free improvisation, music analysis, and music theory. I completed my doctorate at UC Berkeley and, for the next year, I will be completing a fellowship in the Department of Music at Columbia University. The days are spent composing, writing, teaching and performing.
The compositions page lists works to date, with program notes and downloadable MP3s. The guitar page gives an overview of the musicians I often work with and also contains MP3s. The writings page has a list of current publications, and PDF versions of my analytical and aesthetic essays. It also details my current research. Keep your eye out for upcoming gigs and performances. The biography page details my past projects and current travails.
